Review: Collateral & Bucket @ The Half Moon, Putney

By Rick Pali on July 6th, 2019

For me working with music all the time in my professional life going to a gig for me is kind of like a busman’s holiday. So, consequently, It takes a lot to impress this cynical old git nowadays.

Collateral has been a name that has been bandied about on social media for an age now. Their name has been that much prevalent that you would be forgiven for thinking they are a company that specialises in PPI claims. Happy to report that is not the case (However, if you did think that the deadline for claims is the 27th of August, just so you know).

Bucket a very exceptional band featuring some truly legendary names in the field of rock were brilliant. Now, do not get me wrong with what I am about to say but Collateral really shined and for my money blew them off the stage.

Collateral are tight, highly professional and above all have a commanding stage presence that demands your attention. These boys want to go all the way and it shows in the dedication to their craft. Angelo is a superlative front man who engages the audience actively involves them like a true frontman should and obviously has no plans for having any kids soon judging by the tight jeans and the on stage split kick. Brought tears to my eyes just watching that.

The sceptic in me always says that if a young band like this all of a sudden gets a shot like they have to play with Bon Jovi that Daddy must have mortgaged the house for a buy on. Simply not the case. Collateral have got to that point on raw talent alone and really deserve that prize. Chatting to the guys after it shows how much of a bond off stage they have as well. When you have that kind of bond it shows in the performance (Just don’t ask Angelo about the chipped tooth and chips!).

Folks, you know me, I don’t do a lot of gig write-ups so for me to take 7 am on a Saturday morning to write this means these guys are something special. The debut album comes out in late October I believe but for now will just have to use the 4-shots EP on repeat..well for a month anyway when they team up with my favourite musical superhero Danny Vaughn for the Myths, Legends and Lies Tour.

See you in August guys!

10/10
